Hi, there is a white horizontal bar that keeps flashing at the very bottom of my screen just below the Windows taskbar. I have an HP Pavilion DV4 that is about a year old. Why is this line flashing? Is there any way I can fix it?|||if this is an external monitor (not a laptop) i would look for a settings option something like vertical size or vertical position . what appears to may be going on is the screen has moved . you can move the white bar off the screen with these options . without seeing the monitor this is where i would start, hope this helps "D"|||Well, it's either your graphics card is going bad or you need a new monitor.

Try all of the following:

-Connect your monitor to a different computer. If it does the same thing, you need a new monitor. If not, move on to the next step.

-Connect a different monitor to your computer. If that white line comes up, your graphics card is going bad.

Usually the monitor port is connected to the graphics card. So, if it's the port and not the card, you would have to get a new card anyway since, like I said, the port is welded to the card.

Hope this helps! :)
