While using a website, do you find a vertical or horizontal menu bar easier to use?

I am not sure which type to go for. Thanks!|||Well depending on the site structure, number of navigation links. Etc

A horizontal menu might be just as good as the vertical, generally the horizontal is best suited for small company sites, and smaller blogs. While the vertical is used on bigger sites, and in multi-column layouts.

Just keep in mind that the horizontal menu dosn't take advantage of the otherwhise available vertical space, which is much grather then horizontal space. This can be designed-around by creating a drop-down, but these might create other problems.

The horizontal menu also has the dissadvantage, that it easily gets ignored by some users. This is because a lot of "made for advertising" sites with little to no content, uses it for their sponsor links.

As for which of them looks the best, well i think both can look equalley good.|||For me vertical. Horizontal is a pain in the ar*e.|||vertical|||vertical|||vertical, I dont know why but they feel easier to use, plus you have more space for a decent list, horizontal is limited by the width of the page.

|||You should avoid using horizontal as much as possible.|||Horizontal.

-FireDart|||Most of the websites have horizontal menu and people are more accustomed of using horizontal menu in comparison to vertical menu.

I will suggest if you have choice then go for horizontal menu. |||Small site - horizontal is okay. Larger site I prefer the vertical and on the right.
