How do I get rid of the horizontal help bar after first joining facebook?

I just set up an account for my friend but at the bottom of his facebook page is coming up with a horizontal 'help' bar explaining what the wall and home page is. However he already knows all of this, I have tried looking at all of the settings but cant seem to get rid of it! It also means he cannot access his chat as this bar is covering it.
